Machine learning is a sub-field of computer science that evolved from the study of pattern recognition and the theory of computational learning into artificial intelligence. Machine learning can be defined as the “field of study that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed”. Machine learning explores the study and construction of algorithms that can learn from their errors and make predictions about data. Algorithms operate by constructing a model from sample inputs in order to make predictions or decisions guided by data rather than simply by following inflexible and static programmed instructions. While in artificial intelligence there are two types of reasoning (the inductive, which draws rules and patterns of large data sets, and the deductive), automatic learning only cares about the inductive.
